Aaron Tilsen – Minnesota State University Mankato (NCAA D2)

Coach Tilsen enters his second year with the Mavericks in his new role as Assistant coach and Director of Recruiting/Scouting. In his tenure coaching MSU women’s soccer, he has been part of two regular season conference championships (2018, ’22), three conference tournament championships (2016, ‘17, ’18), and four NCAA tournament runs (2016, ’17, ’18, ’22).  The Mavericks have posted a record of 66-10-13 under his tutalage and Tilsen has coached All-Americans

Emma Morris – University of Minnesota Morris (NCAA D3)

The University of Minnesota Morris is pleased to announce the hiring of Emma Morris as the new head coach of the Cougar women’s soccer program beginning with the 2024 season. Morris has previously led the Bethany Lutheran College women’s soccer program for the last five seasons.

Taking over the Bethany Lutheran program in 2019, Morris led the Vikings to the UMAC Tournament in each of her five seasons. Along the way, BLC compiled a record of 47-33-4 and set a program record for wins in a season with 13 in 2021. In the fall of 2022, Morris added Senior Woman’s Administrator duties to her role with the Bethany Lutheran athletic department.

Devlyn Jeter – Chicago State University (NCAA D1)

Devlyn Jeter has been named as an assistant coach for the Chicago State women’s soccer program by head coach Josh Reyes. She joins the Cougars following two seasons at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, where the Hawks doubled their win total from her first year (2022) to her second and final season (2023).

Prior to her time at Quincy, Jeter coached at Portland Community College where the Panthers finished the 2021 season second in the Northwest Athletic Conference, compiling a 7-3-2 conference record. 

Jeter is also a pioneer and trailblazer. She was just the second female assistant coach in the history of the Scottish Premiere League, and was the first woman of color to coach on the men’s side. She also served as an assistant coach for the Stirling FC men’s professional team and as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Westcliff University (NAIA) in Irvine, California. 

Jeter’s coaching resume also includes work with International Prospect Academy in Southern California and she served in assistant coaching roles near her hometown of Sacramento with the California Storm and at Cosumnes Oaks High School.
A 2016 graduate of the University of Portland, Jeter earned two Bachelor’s degrees, Communications and Sociology, while competing for the Pilots highly-regarded women’s soccer program. Jeter holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Stirling in Scotland.

The Sacramento, California native played for the Portland Pilots from 2012-16. Jeter was selected to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Soccer team and she served as Pilots team captain in both her junior and senior seasons. After graduation, Jeter competed professionally for both the Fresno Freeze and California Storm of the Women’s Premier Soccer League. In addition, she also played internationally at the pro level with the Moreton Bay United Football Club in Brisbane, Australia, as well as with Stirling FC in Stirling, Scotland.

Lucca Shimanuki – Minnesota United U15-U17 GK Coach/ Aurora FC GK Coach

Lucca has a Master’s Degree in Education of Coaching Leadership from Mount Marty University, SD. Since graduating in 2020, he has been coaching in the Twin Cities area serving as the Director of Goalkeeping at Twin Cities Rush and Assistant Men’s and Women’s coach at North Central University. Currently, Lucca is coaching the U15 and U17 goalkeepers for Minnesota United FC Academy.

Rob Miller – Converse University (NCAA D2) *Guest Speaker

Miller coached the second-year Valkyries to a 13-1-5 overall record, Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions and Conference Championship in 2022. Converse secured a berth to the NCAA Super Region II round of the NCAA Tournament, the first team to do so in Converse history.

In his first season at Converse, Miller coached the Valkyries to an 8-8-2 regular season record in their first season. Miller led the Valkyries to their first postseason birth in 2021 with a trip to the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament. 

Prior to accepting the position at Converse, Miller spent fives seasons as the head coach at Truett McConnell University. Miller has a career record of 240-170-28 in his twenty-three years of coaching, and during that time, he coached a total of seven All-American, seventeen All-Region and sixty-two All-Conference Team Players. The program at Truett McConnell reached new heights under Miller, with the most-noted being winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament in 2017, an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament and finishing 22 in the nation. Numerous individual awards were won by Miller’s student-athletes including AAC Offensive Player of the Year (2016), AAC Player of the Year (2017), NAIA All-American (2017), and a total of ten All-Conference Players. 

Miller has numerous years of impressive collegiate coaching experience, including serving as head soccer coach at NCAA Division II Anderson University from 2002-2012. While at Anderson, Miller coached his teams to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, as well as reaching the sweet 16 twice. His teams finished 14th, 17th, and 25th in the nation. His teams amassed nine total conference tournament appearances, and they were named South Atlantic Conference regular season champions in 2011, as well as tournament champions in 2011, 2010 and a runner-up in 2009. Honors earned by Miller’s student-athletes included South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year (2011), two Southeast Region Players of the Year (2010 and 2011), two South Atlantic Conference Players of the Year (2010 and 2011), and two Conference Carolinas Freshmen of the Year (2005 and 2008).

Prior to  Anderson, Miller served as the head coach at the University of the Cumberlands from 1995-2001 where his teams were named Mid-South Conference Tournament Champions in 1996 and Mid-South Conference Champions in 1998 and 2000. 

Miller was named Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year three times (1996, 1998, 2000). During his coaching career, he has received regional awards such as Central Kentucky Conference Coach of the Year (1992), 27th District Coach of the Year (1993), Region Coach of the Year (1998), and Kentucky State Coach of the Year (2000). His most recent honor was as Conference Carolinas Coach of Year (2008), which is awarded annually to the top coach in each sport among the twelve private colleges and universities within Conference Carolinas.

In addition to his experience as a head coach at the collegiate level, Miller has also coached All-Star teams and helped develop Olympic athletes. He served as the U.S. All-Star Team head coach in the Outback Games in Darwin, Australia, in 2003. Miller was a member of the Kentucky Olympic Development Program staff from 1996-2000 and the Olympic Development Program Head Coach for the England Tour in 2004. He also served as a member of the South Carolina Olympic Development Program Staff from 2004-2006. Additionally, Miller has coached professionally in the United States Soccer League (USL) where he coached two organizations: the Lexington (KY) Bandits and the Greenville (SC) Lions. He has had several players go on to play in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Miller attended Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. While at Olivet Nazarene, Miller was four-year varsity starter for the men’s soccer program. While serving as team captain there in 1989, he was named to the first-team Chicagoland-Conference team and the First Team District 20 team.

Jon Lowery – St. Thomas University (NCAA D1)

Jon Lowery built a nationally-respected Division III soccer program with the Tommies last decade, and now he’s busy in building mode in Division I. The 2024 season marks Lowery’s 13th season as a head coach for the Tommie Men’s Soccer program. Lowery coached his 200th game with St. Thomas Men’s Soccer in 2022 season is the second longest tenured coach at his school among the Summit men’s soccer coaches. Lowery led his program’s historic jump from D-III directly into D-I in 2021. The Purple have competed well over the first two seasons with visible progress in several areas and know that the future is bright.

Lowery’s 2023 squad earned a hard-fought victory over Chicago State in September, followed by an impressive shutout win against Milwaukee the following month. Ending the season on a high note, the Tommies secured a home win over Western Illinois to finish the 2023 season. Lowery’s 2022 team tied national power Denver and also recorded shutout wins over Eastern Illinois and Lindenwood. 

A Division III National Coach of the Year in 2016 and Region Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2016 and 2017, Lowery guided St. Thomas men’s soccer’s improvement from nine wins in 2014 to 12 wins in 2015, a school-record 20 wins in 2016, a school-record 22 victories in 2017,and 16 wins in 2018.

Randy McClure – Shaw University (NCAA D2)

Randy McClure enters his fifth season as the head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Shaw University. McClure took over the reins of both programs before the 2019 season.

McClure comes to Shaw after serving as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program at Catawba. Additionally, he served as the head coach for the developmental team. Prior to Catawba, McClure served as the Director of Coaching & Player Development at Port St. John United Soccer Club (FL). Previously, McClure served as assistant women’s soccer coach at Pfeiffer University from 2015-2016.

McClure has an extensive coaching resume, holding the highest credentials from the United States Soccer Federation, United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA), and United States Youth Soccer. He has been coaching for more than 20 years at the high school and youth level. McClure has also served on the Olympic Development Program staff in Minnesota.

McClure was named the 2009 Lee County Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while at South Fort Myers High School (FL) when he led the Wolfpack to its first conference title. He has also led several successful club teams in Florida. McClure currently coaches senior boys and girls for North Carolina Football Club in Raleigh and serves on the staff for the Olympic Development Program in North Carolina.

McClure earned a degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1992. He also received graduate degrees in English from Chapman University and Bowling Green State University. McClure has four children, and he currently resides in Knightdale.

Jason Carlson – Upper Iowa University (NCAA D2)

Jason Carlson is in his second season of his second stint as the head coach for the Peacock men’s soccer program. Carlson returned to Fayette, Iowa prior to the 2022 season after five years split between Florida and North Carolina at NCAA Division II institutions.

Carlson led the Peacocks to 39 wins over four seasons (2013-16) and a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Central Regional in 2015. In 10 seasons as a head men’s soccer coach, with nine coming at the NCAA Division II level, Carlson has amassed a record of 88-63-17 overall and a conference record of 48-33-8.

Carlson led Upper Iowa University to an overall record of 39-27-5 in his four seasons with the Peacocks. Upper Iowa had their best season in 2015 (13-4-1, 6-2 MIAA) when they claimed the program’s first conference regular season title (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association). The 2015 season came to an end with a loss in the NCAA Division II Central Region Finals. UIU reached as high as No. 12 in the NSCAA national poll that season and ended the year ranked No. 19. Nine Peacocks earned a place on the All-MIAA Team, including five First Team selections. Carlson was also named the 2015 MIAA and Central Region Coach of the Year after the season.

Carlson left Upper Iowa to become the head men’s soccer coach at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida for three seasons and then moved to University of Mount Olive for two seasons in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Both the FSC Moccasins and UMO Trojans are NCAA Division II members and compete in the Sunshine State Conference and Conference of the Carolinas, respectively.

At Mount Olive, Carlson led the Trojans to a massive improvement between his first and second seasons going from a 3-5-1 record to a 12-6 mark this past fall which also included a 9-2 record in conference play.

Prior to Mount Olive, Carlson led the men’s soccer program at Florida Southern for three seasons. The Mocs posted a 24-18-5 overall record over the three seasons. In his second year at FSC, he guided the Moccasins to one of their best seasons in team history. The Moccasins fell just one win shy of the school record with a 12-5 mark overall. Their Sunshine State Conference record of 6-4 was the best in the school’s 62-year history, and they achieved the highest national ranking in team history too by reaching No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. 

Raudel Fierro-Perez – St. Thomas University (NCAA D1) *Guest Speaker

Raudel Fierro-Perez joins the men’s soccer program as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in spring of 2024.

Fierro-Perez brings a deep soccer resume on the field and as a coach. He previously spent four years with the Tulsa men’s soccer program, serving as a volunteer assistant for two seasons before moving into the graduate assistant role starting in 2022. In his tenure, Tulsa recorded a 36-19-8 overall record. Fierro-Perez helped coach 16 student-athletes to American Athletic Conference all-conference accolades, four to all-rookie team honors, and eight to all-tournament teams. In 2021 Tulsa had a record season, tying program-best 16 wins, was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally, claimed conference regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Championship third round. In 2022, the Hurricane made their 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 

Fierro-Perez also served as Key City Soccer Association’s Director of Coaching from 2017-2020. He was responsible for the entire business operation, while overseeing the coaching structure of the program.  

Lucca Shimanuki – Minnesota United U15-U17 GK Coach/ Aurora FC GK Coach

Jack Paris, Head Women’s Coach, Webber International University

Paris joined Webber International University as the Assistant Head Women’s Soccer Coach and Assist Men’s Soccer Coach in August of 2022.

Coach Paris joined Webber from Division-II Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach from 2020-2022. He also took on responsibility of Director of Operations within the program as well as Coordinator of Domestic Recruitment. Paris is a native of England and came to the United States in 1993 where he called Tampa, Florida his home.

Prior to coaching, Paris played in the Tampa area and continued his playing career overseas in England and Denmark.

Brandon Barkus,  Head Women’s Coach, Augustana University

– Barkus has been the Head Soccer Coach at Augustana since 2006, compiling a record of 155-99-28, six NCAA tournament appearances and one NSIC tournament championship.

In 2019, Barkus saw seven of his players earn All-NSIC honors (including three on the All-NSIC First Team), three earn USCA All-Region honors, two earn D2CCA All-Region honors, one earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, one earn NSIC All-tournament honors, four earn NISC Player of the Week honors and 18 earn Academic All-NSIC honors. 

As a player, Barkus was a two-time honorable mention All-America goaltender at Benedictine College in Atchison. He started three years for the Ravens and twice served as team captain.

Emma Morris, Head Women’s Coach, Bethany Lutheran College

Emma Morris enters her fourth season as the head coach of the Bethany women’s soccer team.

In 2019, the Vikings qualified for the UMAC Tournament for the first time since 2016 and two players received All-Conference honors. In 2020, two players were named All-Conference. In 2021, Morris helped lead the Vikings to their most successful season in program history. The Vikings had one player named First Team All-Conference, three players named Second Team All-Conference, and one player earn Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2021.

Morris comes to Bethany from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, where she spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach where she helped the Student Princes to an overall record of 17-19-2.

Collegiately, Emma played soccer at both Ashford University and Viterbo University. In 16 games as a senior at Viterbo, Morris earned North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) scholar-athlete honors. At Ashford, Morris was a starter for the 2015 NAIA Association of Independent Institutions (AII) conference championship team. She was also named a 2015 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete

Lucca Shimanuki, Goalkeeper Coach, North Central College

Coach Lucca Shimanuki originates from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Shimanuki moved to Tennessee in 2013 to pursue an education at Martin Methodist College. He also played college soccer as a goalkeeper for the Redhawks and was a part of the National Championship team his freshman year.

After earning his degree in 2017, Shimanuki coached high school girls soccer for a year at Fayeteville High School in Tennessee. Shimanuki moved to South Dakota in 2018 to continue his education in Education of Coaching Leadership, earning his master’s degree in May of 2020. When attending Mount Marty, Shimanuki worked as graduate assistant and goalkeeper coach for the Lancers Men’s Soccer team. Shimanuki spent the summer of 2019 playing for the NPSL team
Sioux Falls Thunder.

Since moving to Minnesota in August, 2020, Shimanuki work as Director of Goalkeeping at Twin Cities Rush. Shimanuki looks to continue to grow in his coaching career as a member of the NCU soccer coaching staff.

Anthony Clark, Assistant Coach, University of Detroit Mercy

Clark comes to the Titans after spending four seasons as an Assistant Coach at his alma mater Ohio Northern University.

During his tenure at Ohio Northern, Clark specialized in creating offensive tactics for the forwards and the attacking midfield along with serving as the team’s Recruiting Coordinator.

Under Clark’s guidance, ONU finished the 2022 campaign with a 13-4-5 overall record winning the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season championship with an 8-0-1 mark in conference play. The Polar Bears earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament advancing to the third round before falling to Williams (Mass.) and finished with a No. 13 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

Individually, Clark assisted in the development of Levi King who earned 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region VII First Team honors for the second time finishing his career as a four-time All-Region selection. He also was named to the All-OAC First Team as the conference’s Midfielder of the Year for the second straight year and was a five-time All-OAC selection, four-time First Team pick and two-time OAC All-Tournament Team selection.

Phillip Bohn, Head Coach, Webber International University

Bohn joins the Warriors after spending the last five years as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at fellow NAIA, LSU-Shreveport. Accumulating a winning record in each of his five seasons, Bohn compiled an overall record of 63-30-5 and a conference record of 33-12-2. The 2018 season stands as the best season in LSUS history as the Pilots finished 15-5 and won their first ever RRAC regular season title. Bohn was named the 2022 RRAC Coach of the Year as well as 2022 United Soccer Coaches West Region Staff of the Year.
 
Prior to Shreveport, Bohn made four previous stops as a head coach. He spent three seasons in Salina, Kansas, at Kansas Wesleyan University where he compiled an overall record of 37-18-5 and was an impressive 23-4-3 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
Before that, he spent one season at Central Baptist College in Arkansas and four seasons at Jamestown College in North Dakota. Through 13 seasons as a head coach thus far, Bohn has an overall record of 144-95-15.
 
Bohn earned a USSF National ‘B’ Coaching License and has NSCAA advanced regional coaching diplomas.

Roberto Yepez, Head Coach, Viterbo University

Roberto enters into his first season as the Head Coach of Viterbo University. Yepez comes from being the Assistant Coach at Point University and had been the assistant coach at Lincoln College for 3 seasons before that. Yepez was born and raised in Bloomington, IL and graduated from Lincoln Christian University in 2019. As a player, Yepez played in the NAIA with Lincoln Christian University and Semi-professionally with Baltimore Kings.

Lucca Shimanuki, Goalkeeper Coach, North Central College

Leonardo Barbosa, Assistant Coach, St. Mary’s University

Coach Leo Barbosa originates from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Leo acquires a US Soccer “B” license, along with United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and premier Diploma. Leo has extensive coaching and goalkeeping experience and is also currently Med City (NPSL) goalkeeper coach and Minnesota Rush Technical Director.

Dan Rothert, Founder, Top Student Athlete Recruiting

-Before retiring from college coaching after the 2019 season, Dan Rothert, was one of the most successful college soccer coaches in NCAA history at any level. One of the few coaches with over 500 collegiate wins, Rothert’s 613 wins at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, between the men’s and women’s programs, puts him in rarified company. Rothert built Loras College into a NCAA III powerhouse for both men’s and women’s soccer. In his 22 years with the men, his teams won 12 conference championships and made 12 NCAA tournaments, while advancing to 8 Sweet Sixteen’s and 5 NCAA Final Fours (including finishing as national runner-up in 2015).   

Rothert also spent 5 years as Associate AD overseeing recruiting where he learned the in and outs of admissions and financial aid and uses this knowledge to help his clients find great fit opportunities and save money on college costs.

Brandon Barkus,  Head Women’s Coach, Augustana University

– Barkus has been the Head Soccer Coach at Augustana since 2006, compiling a record of 155-99-28, six NCAA tournament appearances and one NSIC tournament championship.

In 2019, Barkus saw seven of his players earn All-NSIC honors (including three on the All-NSIC First Team), three earn USCA All-Region honors, two earn D2CCA All-Region honors, one earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, one earn NSIC All-tournament honors, four earn NISC Player of the Week honors and 18 earn Academic All-NSIC honors. 

As a player, Barkus was a two-time honorable mention All-America goaltender at Benedictine College in Atchison. He started three years for the Ravens and twice served as team captain.

Clay Glasgow, Head Coach, Southwest Minnesota State University

-Clay Glasgow was named head women’s soccer coach at SMSU on Feb. 25, 2022.

Glasgow comes to SMSU after spending the past eight seasons as head women’s soccer coach at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.

During his last two seasons at DWU, the Tigers amassed back-to-back winning seasons and qualified for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament both seasons. He coached a remarkable number of outstanding athletes including 11 NAIA All-American Scholar-Athletes and 19 All-GPAC selections, with a notable five All-GPAC first team honorees during his tenure. During his first season at DWU in 2014, the team was picked to finish last in the preseason polls, yet the program won 10 games and advanced to the GPAC Tournament semifinals.

Glasgow began his coaching career at Life University in Atlanta, where he worked as a camp coach in 2001-02 while playing soccer at Brewton Parker College. He then transferred to Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., where he earned all-conference honors for the Lancers.

Clara Webby, Assistant Women’s Coach, Macalester College

Webby returned to her alma mater as the Scots’ assistant coach in March of 2022. Webby spent the 2021 season as the top assistant at St. Catherine University.

While at St. Catherine, Webby helped the Wildcats win the MIAC regular-season and playoff championships while advancing to the NCAA Tournament. She was honored along with the rest of the coaching staff as Region IX Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches. Before her stint at St. Catherine, Webby was an assistant coach at Macalester under previous head coach Krystle Seidel for two seasons.

Webby was a standout player for the Scots, earning All-MIAC and All-Region honors in 2016 and 2017. During her three seasons as Macalester’s starting central defender, Webby and the Scots registered 26 shutouts. After sitting out her senior season due to injury, she was included on the MIAC Sportsmanship Team. An international studies major, Webby graduated cum laude from Macalester. She also made the Academic All-MIAC team twice.

Gregg Olson, Head Coach, Macalester College

-Olson will begin his 10th season in the fall of 2021 at Macalester as head coach, having rebuilt the program into a MIAC, regional and national power once again. The Scots have finished in the top five in the MIAC in each of the last six years while appearing in the national top 20 rankings four of the past six seasons. In his last six seasons at Macalester, Olson has a record of 68-30-20 (.661), including a 39-14-7 (.708) mark in the MIAC.

Olson’s squads have consistently performed exceptionally well in the classroom, with a team grade-point average that ranked as high as 15th among 820 men’s soccer programs nationally across all divisions and first in the MIAC.

A native of Rockford, Illinois, Olson graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Geography from the University of Vermont, where he was team captain as a senior. Olson also was a three-time winner of the team’s Donoson Fitzgerald Award for Perseverance, Integrity and Sportsmanship. After graduating from college, Olson spent two seasons playing semi-professionally before beginning his coaching career. 

Zach Neiberger, Assistant Coach, St. Cloud State University

Neiberger enters his second season with the men’s soccer program in 2021. 

A resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Neiberger served as an assistant coach at Hamline University from 2018-2019.  A former high school All-American, Neiberger played his collegiate soccer at NCAA D1 San Diego State University and UW- Milwaukee.
